What the title means

Our ambassadors are hobbyists whose skill, and whose generosity in sharing it, we respect. We give the title to thank you publicly for what you have already shown and shared with the hobby.

The products we send are a thank-you, not a payment.

Because your name now sits next to ours, we ask you to keep the commitments in this code.

A title, not a rank

The ambassador title does not place you above other hobbyists. It does not make you more important than beginners, shop owners, group members or anyone else in the community. It is recognition of the skill you have shown and the knowledge you have shared.

If anything, the title adds responsibility. People will now connect you with 2Hr Aquarist. How you treat others reflects on us, not only on you.

In practice, this means:

  • Do not use the title as authority. Do not use it to win arguments, to silence people, or to decide who belongs in a community.
  • Be patient with beginners. Many people will ask you questions because of the title. Answer them kindly, or point them to someone who can help.
  • Treat every member fairly. If you run or help to run a group, apply the same rules to everyone.
  • Lift others up. Share credit, encourage newcomers, and celebrate other people’s tanks, not only your own.

Products we send you

Products we send are for your own use, in your own tanks, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. They are not for sale, resale, trade or distribution.

  • Do not sell them. This includes selling them online, through a shop, or to friends.
  • Do not swap or pass them on. Please do not trade them for other items or hand them out to others.
  • Ask before any giveaway. If you would like to run a giveaway, talk to us first. We are often happy to support one.

Why this matters: our products reach hobbyists through shops and distributors who invest in stocking them. Gifted products sold privately undercut those partners. We also cannot stand behind products after they have left your hands.

If we find, or are told, that gifted products are being sold or passed on, we may stop sending products. In serious cases, we may also end the ambassadorship.

Your other commitments

  1. Be honest. Show only your own work and your real results. Do not claim things about APT products that we do not claim ourselves. If you are not sure, ask us.
  2. Be respectful. Everyone is welcome in this hobby, whatever their gender, age, nationality, background, sexual orientation or beliefs. Disagree with ideas as much as you like, but never attack the person. Do not start or join attacks on anyone.
  3. Share our approach in your own words. You do not have to agree with us on everything, and we do not want you to pretend. We only ask that you do not use the title to promote methods that go against our approach at its core. We favour what works reliably for most people over what worked once for someone. For example, do not present a rare success as a method others should copy.
  4. Stay active. Keep scaping, keep sharing, and tag @2hraquarist when APT products are part of your work. Life gets busy. If you are quiet for a few months, we will check in with you.
  5. Do not speak for us. Do not use our name to take sides in disputes, or to make announcements on our behalf, without asking us first.

How it works

  • Agreeing. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and press “I agree”. No other paperwork is needed.
  • Once a year, we will check in with you about how things are going. In most cases, the ambassadorship simply continues.
  • If something concerns us, we will talk to you privately first. A single complaint is the start of a conversation, not a decision.
  • Dishonesty, discrimination or harassment end an ambassadorship immediately.
  • The title is ours to give and to withdraw. We may end an ambassadorship when we believe it no longer serves our community or our brand, even if no one is at fault. We will always tell you the reason privately. We will not make a public announcement.
  • If you step away from the hobby for a long time, we may retire the title with thanks. You are welcome to return.
  • When an ambassadorship ends, please remove the title from your profiles. We will stop sending products.

Our side

  • We will treat you as a fellow hobbyist, not as a supplier of content.
  • We will answer your questions about your tanks and share what we learn.
  • We will celebrate and share work we love.
  • If 2Hr Aquarist ever does something you cannot support, you are free to step away at any time. We will respect that.
